Climate Fresk is a scientific, collaborative workshop that helps people understand climate change by using a deck of cards based on the IPCC report. It's a powerful tool for providing a quality climate education. It is accessible to anyone and can be scaled quickly within an organization or community. The Climate Fresk NGO was created in December 2018 by Cédric Ringenbach in order to accelerate the spread of the tool, to train and upskill Climate Fresk facilitators who are the international community of Freskers.

With over 100 Country Coordinators, Climate Fresk is pursuing its mission of raising awareness around the world and sharing its knowledge in more than 45 languages. Benefits of the workshop include:

  • NO PRIOR KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED: Novices can discover and dismantle any previously-held prejudices; experts can deepen and develop their knowledge.
  • SUITABLE FOR A WIDE RANGE OF AUDIENCES: The general public, employees, students, and decision-makers—there’s also a kids’ version for 10–14 year-olds.

There are 4 learning stages of a Climate Fresk workshop:

  1. Learning: Explore the cards and the links between them. Draw on collective intelligence to co-create the Fresk, and understand the chain of cause and effect that leads to climate change.
  2. Creativity and Summary: Anchor what you have learnt by illustrating the Fresk together and giving it a name.
  3. Emotions: Share your feelings on the topic, and listen without judgement.
  4. Discussion: Explore different individual and collective actions, given the scale of the challenge. Think about related issues, wider than the climate.

Check out the Climate Fresk website to learn more, find or request a workshop near you (available virtually and in-person), and view opportunities to get trained as a facilitator.
