The first course of this four part series is Black Contributions to Coastal Communities 101. From April 1–May 10, students will delve into the critical intersection of marine science and social justice, emphasizing the contributions and perspectives of Black people in coastal communities worldwide. Through weekly video content from the Black in Marine Science YouTube channel, we will explore topics ranging from historical narratives to contemporary challenges in marine conservation and equity.

The course will run for six weeks and include weekly videos, quizzes, and discussion boards. Have a question? Log in to the weekly office hours. Started the course late? No problem, all assignments will remain open until week five.

  2. Lower Cape Fear Rice Plantation
  3. De Wata Bring We
