Martin Ogle received B.S. and M.S. degrees in wildlife Biology from Colorado State Univ. (1982) and Virginia Tech (1984).   He was Chief Naturalist for the Northern Virginia Regional Park Authority, 1985 - 2012.  In 2012, Martin was awarded the Arlington (VA) Green Patriot Award – presented for outstanding work in sustainability by George Mason University,, Arlington Department of Environmental Services, Arlington Chamber of Commerce and Arlingtonians for a Clean Environment. Also in 2012, Martin moved to CO with his wife, Lisa, and his twins, Cyrus and Linnea and started his own education and consulting business, Entrepreneurial Earth, LLC, and most recently, the non-profit, Geo SapiensMartin was born and raised in South Korea.

Bio for Martin Ogle

  • Born and raised for much of his young life in South Korea.  But he also spent 4 blissful childhood years here in Wisconsin, happily fishing the lakes and rivers and funding his habit with a nightcrawler business that brought in as much as $5 a week!
  • Later extended that education with B.S. and M.S. degrees in Wildlife Biology from Colorado State University and Virginia Tech, respectively. 
  • Martin had a career as Chief Naturalist for the Northern Virginia Regional Park Authority, 1985 - 2012.   During that time, he was a passionate advocate of Gaia Theory – the scientific idea of Earth as a living system – and also of Wisconsin’s own “Land Ethic.”    Martin gave lectures and courses at parks, schools, universities, the Smithsonian Institution, the U.S.D.A. Graduate School, libraries, and many other organizations in 7 states, 3 countries and Puerto Rico.  
  • Served on a variety of boards and task forces, in Arlington, related to energy, sustainability and environment. 
  • Was Chairman of the Board for Arlingtonians for a Clean Environment (now EcoAction Arlington), and also served on the boards of the Arlington Food Co-op, Arlington Heritage Alliance and the Arlington, the Alexandria Coalition for the Homeless and the Colorado Alliance for Environmental Education.
  • Founding member of the Arlington Community Sustainability Network and a member of the Arlington County Visioning Task Force, 1999-2001.
  • In 2012, Martin was presented the Arlington Green Patriot Award for his outstanding work in sustainability by George Mason Univ., the Arlington Department of Environmental Services, Arlington Chamber of Commerce and Arlingtonians for a Clean Environment.
  • In 2012, after retiring from the No. Va. Regional Park Authority last year, Martin moved to Louisville, Colorado with his wife, Lisa, and his twins, Cyrus and Linnea.  He started Entrepreneurial Earth LLC through which he did environmental and sustainability programming and activities for a variety of clients.  In 2014 Martin started the Lafayette (CO) Open Space education program, which he ran until 2024.   In 2025, Martin founded  Geo Sapiens | Environmental & Energy Education, Career Readiness, Consultation.  The work of this organization is: "Connecting People, Planet, and Purpose . . .through the integration of environmental education, energy education and job readiness.”  This comes to fruition through the ALL Careers Approach to Education.
