At the annual Eco-Campus award ceremony last December, Taiwan schools that obtained awards gathered at Jinlong Elementary School, New Taipei City, to celebrate and showcase their work of 2019. Aside from receiving their award plaques and green flags, a tour around campus was led by students of the hosting school, and an exhibition area with posters and stands provided plenty of conversation starters.

The event was joined by representatives of the Taiwan Environmental Protection Administration (EPAT), municipal Environmental Protection Bureaus, the Ministry of Education of Taiwan, the US Environmental Protection Agency (US EPA), the North American Association for Environmental Education (NAAEE), Heysong Educational Foundation, and advisors who work with schools all across Taiwan to implement the program.

In 2019, Taiwan welcomed 2 new green flag schools, 1 green flag renewal, 13 silver awards, and 21 bronze awards. Until February 2020, there are now 428 registered schools, including 11 green flag schools, 100 silver awards, and 161 bronze awards in Taiwan, reaching over 190,000 students and close to 17,000 teachers. The US-Taiwan Eco-Campus program follows the FEE Eco-School seven-step framework under the cooperation between the Taiwan Environmental Protection Administration, the US Environmental Protection Agency, and the National Wildlife Federation.
