CAEE Welcomes New Guidelines Trainers’ Bureau Members
On a recent Thursday in August, eighteen environmental educators joined CAEE’s Katie Navin and Lisa Eadens to explore new ways of creating more inclusive environments that support effective community partnerships and collaborations. In addition to participating in the day-long professional development workshop, they had the opportunity to become members of NAAEE’s Guidelines Trainers’ Bureau, joining a growing number of educators who facilitate workshops on the Guidelines for Excellence and how they can be used. Through a series of three trainings (two webinars and an all day workshop) participants gained an overview of the Guidelines for Excellence series, an in depth exploration of the newly released Community Engagement: Guidelines for Excellence, and access to a toolkit of workshop resources.
Katie and Lisa facilitated the hands-on workshop in Golden, CO where participants identified key characteristics of high quality community engagement and took time to consider how to apply the Community Engagement: Guidelines for Excellence to organizational and program work. Katie and Lisa modelled methods of sharing the Guidelines with colleagues, staff, and training participants.
