Peer Education for Sustainable Action
Youth peers tend to influence each other significantly, in both positive and negative ways. Peer education builds upon this powerful influence by providing youth the opportunity to teach and learn from each other. Peer education may be a valuable strategy for educators hoping to foster the values and skills necessary for youth to take sustainable actions. In contrast to pro-environmental behavior changes, sustainable actions are defined as self-initiated, intentional acts that operate at a community or global scale (e.g., starting a recycling program or joining an environmental group).
