Using collective intelligence to solve complex environmental issues: a case study on marine literacy
Oceans provide many benefits, such as raw materials and food, coastal protection, water quality enhancement, carbon sequestration, and tourism and recreation. A lack of ocean literacy—an understanding of the relationship between humans and oceans—can prevent people from adopting pro-environmental behaviors that help protect and conserve the marine environment. The purpose of this research was to demonstrate how an approach called Collective Intelligence (CI) may be used to solve complex environmental issues.
