International Student Art Contest 2025 Science Without Borders® Challenge

Khaled bin Sultan Living Oceans Foundation

The 2025 Science Without Borders® Challenge is now open for submissions with the theme "Marine Keystone Species." This international art contest invites students aged 11–19 worldwide to create artwork highlighting the vital role of keystone species in ocean ecosystems. The contest is divided into two age categories (11–14 and 15–19), with 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place prizes available in each category. Students can win up to $500. The submission deadline is Monday, March 3, 2025.

Educators, we are excited to introduce the new and improved YDC curriculum, aligned to the Next Generation Science Standards—all based on feedback we heard from you. The Biomimicry Institute’s Youth Design Challenge (YDC) is a project-based learning experience that asks middle and high school teams to design bio-inspired ideas that can provide solutions to critical real-world problems.

This year’s Equator Prize will recognize innovative initiatives from Indigenous peoples and local communities that showcase approaches to implementing the newly-approved Global Biodiversity Framework, with an emphasis on nature-based solutions that achieve local sustainable development. Winning initiatives will be honored for their successes in protecting, restoring, and/or sustainably managing nature for nature-positive development outcomes.

Recycle Regatta - Experiential Competition for the Classroom

The 4th Annual Recycle Regatta is ON! Students in grades K-12 are invited to compete in this free competition and learning event. First, build a model sailboat out of recycled and repurposed materials. Then, race your boat to victory while learning all about engineering, mathematics, sailing, buoyancy, and stewardship. Classrooms, boating centers, families, and all community organizations are encouraged to take on the challenge.
