Join the California Global Education Project at California State University, Long Beach for Teaching for Sustainable Communities: Empowering Eco-literate Global Citizens.

A free virtual institute for California teachers: June 21-25, 2021 from 9am–12pm synchronous with afternoon time asynchronous. This institute will feature interdisciplinary study in teaching environmental justice literacies and global competence; and examining sustainable communities with a social, economic, and spatial justice, and ecological lens. 

Starting with a 5-day summer synchronous and asynchronous session, followed by 2 additional meetings during the year, and ending in a student environmental showcase, teachers will be supported with resources and opportunities for engagement throughout the year. Content and resources will be community responsive while focusing on environmental justice strategies for equity and civic engagement for all students. 

This institute also meets the California State Seal of Civic Engagement criteria.
