U.S. EPA Webinar: Approaches to Addressing Climate Literacy

Panelist Bios:
Kristi Hibler-Luton is the Program Director at EcoRise and leads program work in schools west of the Mississippi. Hibler-Lutonhas more than 14 years of experience in public education and has written science curricula that integrates technology and outdoor learning into learning materials. She has also supported in-service master teachers as the Director of National Board Certification for Teach for America in Texas and is a National Board Certified Teacher with a master’s degree in Educational Leadership.
Michelle Ellis is a full-time high school science teacher in North Carolina and her 18-year classroom teaching career spans elementary, middle, and high school, mostly in high minority or high needs communities. Ms. Ellis is a PhD candidate at Texas Tech University and her dissertation research is in global and cultural competence in STEM educators.
Sergio de Alba is a teacher at R. M. Miano Elementary School in Los Baños, California. His classroom is not a room with four walls; it is, indeed, the entire campus. Sergio has built 16 gardens to assist in science, social studies, math, art, and environmental studies. He has been able to produce powerful lessons connecting curriculum, but more importantly, Sergio teaches students how to develop into responsible adults that become stewards of Earth.
