Guidelines for Excellence Video Series

 

Each of these videos provides a short introduction to some aspect of the Guidelines for Excellence: 

1. Introduction to the Environmental Education Guidelines for Excellence. This video provides an overview of the National Project for Excellence in Environmental Education 

2. K-12 Environmental Education: Guidelines for Excellence.  K–12 Environmental Education: Guidelines for Excellence provides students, parents, caregivers, educators, and others a roadmap to achieving environmental literacy by setting expectations for fourth (age 10), eighth (age 14), and twelfth grade (age 18) students and outlining a framework for effective and comprehensive environmental education programs and curricula. 

3. Environmental Education Materials: Guidelines for Excellence. These guidelines aim to help producers of activity guides, lesson plans, and other instructional materials create high-quality products and to provide educators with a tool to evaluate the wide array of available environmental education materials. 

4. Environmental Educator Knowledge and Skills: Guidelines for Excellence.  The Environmental Educator Knowledge and Skills: Guidelines for Excellence is a comprehensive set of recommendations about the knowledge and skills or competencies educators use to provide effective environmental education. Environmental Educator Knowledge and Skills: Guidelines for Excellence outlines the experiences and learning that will help educators foster environmental literacy, plan environmental education programs, and implement them.

5. Environmental Education Programs: Guidelines for Excellence. The Environmental Education Programs: Guidelines for Excellence comprises a set of recommendations for developing and administering high-quality environmental education programs. These recommendations provide a tool that can be used to ensure a firm foundation for new programs or to inform improvements in existing ones. The overall goal of these guidelines is to facilitate a superior educational process leading to the social and environmental quality that people desire.

6. Early Childhood Environmental Education Programs: Guidelines for Excellence. The Early Childhood Environmental Education Programs: Guidelines for Excellence comprises a set of recommendations for developing comprehensive early childhood environmental education programs or informing improvements in existing ones. A companion publication, the Early Childhood Environmental Education Rating Scale, provides a collaborative tool for educators and others to discuss their early childhood environmental education program goals, consider strengths and areas of needed improvement, and chart a future direction for program development.

7. Community Engagement: Guidelines for Excellence. This set of guidelines focuses on community wellness and is designed to help environmental educators create inclusive environments that support effective partnerships and collaborations.
 
8. Environmental Literacy: A Bit of History and Perspective. Before you jump into deeper investigations of environmental literacy and the K–12 Environmental Education Guidelines for Excellence, we want to give you a bit of background on the field.
 
9. NAAEE: An Overview. We'd like to take a bit of time to introduce you to the North American Association for Environmental Education (NAAEE).
