Forest Health

This training will cover identification, ecology, and management of pests and diseases impacting the forests of the Upper Great Lakes region. Additionally, information related to potential future insect pest and pathogen threats to the Great Lakes region will be covered.

Upon completion of this training, you'll be able to:

  • identify forest insect pests and pathogens of concern that are currently impacting forest health in the Upper Great Lakes region
  • diagnose damage to trees, related to forest insect pests and pathogens of concern that are currently impacting forest health in the Upper Great Lakes region
  • select appropriate management strategies for forest insect pests and pathogens of concern currently impacting forest health in the Upper Great Lakes region
  • identify potential future forest insect pests and pathogens that are not currently in the Upper Great Lakes region, but pose a threat to the region

CEHs/CFEs

This training is preapproved for 2.5 CEHs by the WI-DNR and 1.5 Category 1 CFEs by Society of American Foresters.

To obtain credit you will need complete the training within 30 days of registering and receive a 75% or higher on all assessments. A list of individuals who successfully complete the training will be submitted to WI-DNR and SAF on the first of each month.
