Higher Education Environmental Literacy (HEEL) Mission:
Higher Education Environmental Literacy (HEEL) is a professional learning community designed to support the integration of environmental literacy into teacher education programming. In HEEL professional learning, faculty engage with research-based practices and models for interdisciplinary environmental literacy, outdoor learning, and issue investigations in their classrooms.
The 2026 HEEL professional learning is hosted by Notre Dame of Maryland University's E-STREAM Learning Labs in collaboration with faculty/staff from Maryland Association for Environmental and Outdoor Education (MAEOE) and Towson University (TU). This professional learning was generously funded by Maryland Center for Computing Education (MCCE).
