Constructing Understanding: Applying Strategies and Tools
There is a large amount of research on how people learn, and that research can influence how we teach. In this session, participants will explore research-based strategies for designing and leading science learning experiences based on how people learn. Participants will explore and discuss general strategies and take time to practice applying these strategies to their own specific contexts.
In this session, participants are invited to:
- strengthen their theoretical knowledge of how people learn;
- learn research-backed strategies that help learners become aware of, build on, and modify their conceptual understandings; and
- practice applying these strategies to their own unique contexts and situations.
Who is this workshop for?
This workshop is for anyone who is interested in learning more about how learning happens. We welcome:
- folks who facilitate learning outside of the classroom environment;
- folks who manage educational programs and frontline staff; and
- folks who design learning experiences.
