Dr. Teka Bekuma is an Assistant Professor at Wollega University, Ethiopia, currently serving as the Head of the Department of Environmental Science and the University Climate Action Focal Person. In addition to his university responsibilities, Dr. Teka is the President of the Ethiopian Environmental Science and Education Professionals Association (EESEPA), a national professional association established to strengthen environmental science, environmental education, research collaboration, professional networking, and sustainable development efforts in Ethiopia.
Dr. Teka holds a PhD in Climate Change Adaptation and Mitigation, an MSc in Geography and Environmental Education, and a BSc in Geography and Environmental Studies. His academic and research interests include climate variability, climate change adaptation, drought analysis, environmental sustainability, environmental education, ecosystem rehabilitation, and community resilience.
He has actively participated in teaching, research, community engagement, environmental awareness creation, and institutional leadership. His work includes conducting climate-related research in Ethiopia, preparing environmental education materials, organizing environmental campaigns, supporting university accreditation activities, leading environmental clubs, and promoting climate-smart and sustainable development initiatives.
Dr. Teka has also been involved in building professional and academic collaborations with national and international institutions to promote environmental education, climate action, and research partnerships. He is committed to strengthening environmental awareness, supporting young professionals, and contributing to sustainable environmental management in Ethiopia and beyond.
