I work at Chatham Middle School teaching 6th grade science. I love traveling and have gained first hand knowlege, both good and bad, about the world we live in. I enjoy connecting students to issues that affect them directly and how it relates to others around the world.

My undergraduate degree was Biology and Chemistry in education from Western Washington University. My masters was Marine Biology in education from Oregon State University. I have taught k-12 science for 30 years. My experience with environmental education is taking students to test the water quality of a river near the school. We tested samples for different parameters such as dissolved oxygen, temperature, turbidity, nitrates, phosphates etc. Students entered the river as well collecting macroinvertebrates using waders and kicknets. Students then identified and classified each specimen. Finally, using the data a conclusion was made about the health of the river.
