Here are some of our current offerings:
Opportunities for Teachers and/with Students
- Virtual Student Workshops and Teaching Partners (K-12): Energy Educators work closely with teachers to shape what they need, such as lessons and curriculum, joining classes virtually or in person, and providing support with equipment for hands-on learning.
- Equipment Kits for Rent: Reserve them online- they go out on a first-come, first-served basis. Hands-on equipment designed to be paired with NHEEP storylines/curriculum, but can be used to support your own (or student-designed) units. Range in price from $30-$60, plus shipping fees for a complete STEM kit. Teachers usually keep kits for about a month. Our staff will support you in your use of kits, from technical questions to tailoring materials to your needs during Covid.
- Energy Audit and Action Activities: Use our informational poster and accompanying activities to investigate personal energy use and pledge to make a difference.
- Occasionally funding allows us to provide grants to advance energy or climate action projects.
Opportunities for Teachers
- Teacher Professional Development and Support
- Virtual and In-Person NGSS Instructional Toolkit Trainings: Offered regularly around the state and free of cost thanks to our partnership with NHSaves. Hands-on, minds-on learning, investigating energy and climate over the course a day (in-person) or three 2.5 hour sessions (virtual), and experiencing NGSS from a student perspective. If your district would like to host one of these no-cost trainings, please contact us to set something up!
- Summer Institute 2023: AUG 7-11, at the World Fellowship Center in Albany, NH, with continued support throughout the school year. Jumping from Joy to Action: Empowering energy and climate changemakers through play, hope, and wonder. Teachers will take a deep dive into planning energy and climate curriculum and projects that are solutions-focused. Graduate credit available.
- Energy Action Heroes: TBD for 2024. For teachers hoping to take action on energy or climate issues through project based learning. 5 Virtual Workshops which can stand alone, but each incorporates concepts from the others to build a comprehensive program. Sessions include: Reduce Emissions and Impact, Navigate NGSS & External Expectations, Build Local Community Connections, Sustainable, Just and Equitable Solutions, & We have the Power to Make Change.
- Personalized Professional Development Course (Castleton College Course Credit) with a VEEP/NHEEP Energy Thought Partner/Coach.
- Energy Action Project Support: Provides training and year-long support to teachers to guide students’ action-focused, project-based learning that helps transform energy use in their local context. Graduate credit available.
