STEAM and Nature in Early Childhood
Your young learners need meaningful experiences with nature in order to develop emergent science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) skills. Make meaningful connections between STEM and art by mixing paint from plant pigments, creating seeds and pollinators, building with sticks, and investigating plant and animal characteristics to solve problems.
This three-week course will use Zoom meetings twice a week and Google Classroom for assignments in between meetings as you investigate ways to engage early childhood students in STEM and STEAM activities with natural materials. Participants will receive login instructions and a materials list before the first day of class. Most materials can be found around your house or are easily purchased.
Zoom meetings: Mondays and Fridays, 10 – 11:30 a.m.: 6/14, 6/18, 6/21, 6/25, 6/28, 7/2
CPDUs: 20; Graduate credit: 1 (additional fee)
