Webinar for Environmental Educators: EE After a Pandemic - Lessons Learned

Text from image above:

Are you an environmental educator and starting to plan for Fall programming for schools?

Join Josh Leonard, (Belwin Outdoor Science, St Paul Public Schools) and Joe Walewski (Wolf Ridge Environmental Learning Center), for a lively discussion on what they learned about the future of EE during the pandemic.  Come with questions and stories to share of the lessons you learned from this past year.

From Josh: After a year plus of virtual field trips, we are all so excited to return to in person field trips with kids in the woods and continue with online learning by applying our new tools in new ways. For 50 years Belwin has been a one-and-done field trip experience. Now we finally have the tools to integrate our field investigations into the classroom with authentic pre- and post-trip lessons that boost science learning while meeting social-emotional needs of urban learners preparing for a nature immersion experience.

From Joe: Residential environmental education is back better! Wolf Ridge recognized its 50th Anniversary during the pandemic. Though our residential programs were completely shut down, we didn't sit idle. Through live, experiential, place-based virtual field trips (VFTs) we were able to connect to students in times, ways, and places we'd only dreamed of before the pandemic. We'll share the mechanics and philosophy underpinning what we believe will be an exciting and powerful addition to residential environmental education. VFTs are here to stay!
