Sami Wolniakowski is a seasoned Outdoor and Adventure Education professional with a diverse background in teaching, environmental education, and outdoor leadership. Originally from Wisconsin, Sami pursued her studies in Elementary Education, where an internship at a local nature center and wildlife sanctuary ignited her passion for the outdoors and experiential learning.

Following her graduation, Sami spent five years working across the western United States in various roles, including Ski Race Coach, Ski Patroller, Aquatic Field Educator, Wildlife Biologist, Yellowstone Wildlife Guide, Field Instructor, and Classroom Teacher with AmeriCorps. These experiences allowed her to develop a deep appreciation for outdoor education and its ability to foster personal growth and environmental stewardship.

In 2017, Sami began pursuing a Master’s degree in Outdoor and Adventure Education and Non-Profit Management. During her graduate studies, she balanced academics with hands-on leadership roles, including serving as a 4th/5th grade classroom teacher and administrator, Board Member for a local ranch, and Conference Coordinator for the Environmental Education Association of Oregon (EEAO).

After completing her Master's program, Sami became the Director of the Adventure and Outdoor Education program at the YMCA of the Rockies, where she also served as a Wilderness First Aid and CPR instructor. In addition, she has taught natural resource and outdoor adventure courses at Front Range Community College and Arizona State University, further expanding her impact in the field.

Before joining the Camp Tamarack team, Sami served as the Curriculum Specialist for the Greeley-Evans District 6, where she managed the environmental education program at the Poudre Learning Center and led professional development initiatives for both classroom and non-formal educators.

Sami is deeply committed to promoting place-based and inquiry-driven education, with a focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) in outdoor settings. She is excited to bring her expertise and passion to support the mission of Camp Tamarack, enriching the lives of youth and educators alike.
