Hi! My name is Sophie Williams and I am from Bradenton, Florida. Growing up, I was always surrounded by the ocean and nature, which shaped my love for the environment. As I got older, I began to notice how human actions were impacting these ecosystems, and it made me want to be part of the solution. I am passionate about environmental education because I believe helping people build personal connections with nature can inspire real change and more sustainable choices.

I have been involved in environmental education and conservation through a variety of hands on volunteer experiences. I volunteered at Mote Marine Laboratory & Aquarium, where I supported public education and learned more about marine ecosystems. I also worked with Coral Restoration Foundation, contributing to coral reef restoration efforts. I also served as a moderator for a Marine Science Webinar at the Ocean Institute Marine & Environmental Science College Fair, helping facilitate discussions and engage students interested in environmental fields. Locally, I helped replant salt marsh grass at Robinson Preserve, supporting habitat restoration and coastal resilience. I also completed a four month research project focused on pollution in different environments, where I analyzed how human impacts vary across locations. These experiences have strengthened my interest in environmental education and shown me the importance of community involvement in protecting ecosystems.
