The first thing you should know about me is that I really don't like to talk about myself. That said, I'm a gardener, a mom, a home cook, a florist, a hiker, an avid coffee drinker and a life long learner with a passion for the environment. The more I learn or the older I get, not sure which, the more I want to share my love and passion for protecting our home. Not just the physical home that I live in, but this whole connected Earth that we share with countless other creatures. It's a daunting task, but I am one determined old lady who believes that if I can sway even just a few minds into protecting all that is around us, the ripple of that will be felt for generations to come. Wish me luck!

I am having the time of my life in my second career as a conservation educator with the Blair County Conservation District (BCCD). I get to visit schools, libraries and even parks and trails, teaching all ages about the environment. The students are most often engaged and knowledgeable; school teachers get all the credit for that! And the like minded people that I've connected with are the most diverse and truly awesome group of people. I have a "WOW, they are so cool", moment just about every day. Unlike other conservation districts, the BCCD also owns and operates an environmental education park called NatureWorksPark. As the educator, it is also my job to care for the park, which means connecting with volunteers to help me weed, mulch, plant and observe all that is happening at the park.
