Kenji Hakuta is the Lee L. Jacks Professor, emeritus, at the Stanford University Graduate School of Education. He received his Ph.D. in Experimental Psychology from Harvard University in 1979, has held faculty positions at Yale University and the University of California at Santa Cruz, and served as the Founding Dean of the School of Social Sciences, Humanities and Arts at the University of California, Merced. His work is in the area of language and education, with a focus on the education of childfren from immigrant and bilingual backgrounds.. He is an elected Fellow of the National Academy of Education, the American Educational Research Association, the American Association for the Advancement of Science, and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.
