I am Juvie Castillo, originally from the Philippines. I moved to Maryland in September 2005 and began my teaching career with Prince George's County Public Schools that same year. I have been with the county ever since. Currently, I am serving my second year as an English Language Development Teacher here at Paint Branch Elementary School. This role allows me to directly foster linguistic and academic growth for our emergent multilingual learners. My passion lies in creating an inclusive and supportive classroom environment where every student, regardless of their background, can achieve academic excellence and confidently navigate their new language.

Originally from the Philippines, I moved to Maryland in September 2005 and immediately began my teaching career with Prince George's County Public Schools, where I've been ever since. I spent my first decade teaching special needs students in a self-contained kindergarten CSEP. I then taught general education kindergarten for three years before transitioning to an English Language Development (ELD) Teacher. I am currently in my second year as an ELD Teacher at Paint Branch Elementary, fostering linguistic and academic growth for emergent multilingual learners. My passion is creating an inclusive environment where all students can achieve academic excellence and confidently master their new language.

Outside of teaching, I enjoy video calling my family in the Philippines and visiting relatives across the USA during school breaks. I also love watching sports and starting my day with coffee. My friends in Maryland are like family, and I value spending weekends with them.
