From a young age, I have always appreciated biology and envirionmental science. As someone who's parents constantly tended to their garden, I was always there to help out and observe the niches of surrounding wildlife. From various insects to the avian species, to the shrews, to the lizards, to the newts, I found a fascination with how the natural environment functions. My father, who was both a climatologist and a marine biologist would always explain to me various different types of phenomenons that affected weather, ocean currents, and marine populations, such as the coriolis effect, jetstreams, and human interference. Over time, I grew a strong desire to promote environmentalism as well as the conservation of habitats for endangered animals. In addition, As a music student, I eventually found that I looked at the environment with similar lens as I did music. In music, one of the most important studies is ethnomusicology, which studies the history and diaspora of musical cultures. It places an emphasis on the preservation of musical practices passed down for generations. Similarly, I see the environment not just as something to preserve out of biological and ecological balance, but as something to preserve due to its intrinsic historical value.
