I am passionate about nature and the development of activities and projects for community engagement, especially for children and teenagers. As a scientist and educator, I investigated the importance of contact with nature in Protected Areas for raising environmental awareness among school children and adolescents, developing environmental education programs proposals aimed at young people. In this direction, I am currently coordinating an extension project that seeks to evaluate environmental education activities in formal education schools to strengthen the transmission of traditional knowledge of an endemic Palm tree among children and adults in Afro-Brazilian coastal communities, called "Quilombolas". One of the evaluation techniques used in these projects was children's drawings and questionnaires with students and teachers.

I also lead the Scientific Committee of the 1st Science Fair of Quilombola communities, where young people from the public education system will be able to present projects that address environmental care, gender issues, and racial conditions.

Another aspect of my experience is leadership in ethno-community tourism projects, creating and managing, together with the community, solutions that seek to mitigate pressure on fishing resources by adding value to tourist products and services for social and environmental improvement.
