Google's Chrome team released the hidden runner in September 2014 with the code name Project Bolan, which comes from the name of the lead singer of the band T. Rex. The dinosaur itself is a joke dino game about losing your internet link; without it, you'd feel like you were back in the Stone Age. Sebastien Gabriel made the pixel-art T-Rex, and the part that runs, jumps, and ducks is controlled by a small JavaScript engine that is hidden in the browser's error page.
