*Personal Statement:*

As an Early Childhood Development Teacher, I recognize the critical role education plays in shaping future generations' relationship with the environment. Growing up in Africa, the natural world was my first classrooms and. I remember learning under the shade of trees, observing the delicate balance of ecosystems, and understanding the vital role that domestic animals played in sustaining our community’s livelihood. This upbringing instilled in me about deep appreciation for the environment and the invaluable lessons it can impart to young minds.

The interconnectedness of nature and community was not just a theory—it was a lived reality. The presence of animals such as goats, chickens, and cattle was not only a source of food and income but also contributed to soil fertility and supported biodiversity. These experiences taught me that sustainability is not an abstract concept but a way of life that ensures resilience and prosperity for both people and the planet.

Through Eco-Schools, I hope to gain the skills and resources necessary to create a learning environment that mirrors these early experiences, emphasizing the harmony between human activities and the environment. I want to equip students with practical knowledge about sustainable agriculture, resource management, and environmental conservation. By integrating these concepts into the curriculum, I aim to cultivate a sense of environmental stewardship from an early age, ensuring that children grow up with a deep respect and responsibility for the natural world around them.

Ultimately, I envision establishing an Eco-School in Africa that draws from my personal experiences and fosters a holistic understanding of the environment’s role in sustaining life and community. This initiative will serve as a model for how education can inspire meaningful change, empowering students to become advocates for a sustainable future and helping them see the environment not just as a resource but as a teacher, a provider, and a partner in their journey of growth.
