Gloria Barron Prize for Young Heroes

Deadline is 5:00 PM Mountain Time, April 15: The Gloria Barron Prize for Young Heroes seeks applications for its 2019 awards! The Barron Prize celebrates inspiring, public-spirited young people from across the U.S. and Canada. Each year, the Prize honors 25 outstanding young leaders ages 8 to 18 who have made a significant positive difference to people and the environment. Fifteen top winners each receive $10,000 to support their service work or higher education.

50 Years of Environmental Education at the Sandia Mountain Natural History Center

Since 1967, the Sandia Mountain Natural History Center outside of Albuquerque, New Mexico has guided students on outdoor environmental education programs that provide hands-on opportunities to hike, explore, learn about, and do scientific research in their local ecosystem. The SMNHC is run as a partnership between Albuquerque Public Schools (one of the largest school districts in the country) and the State of New Mexico.

Certificate in Sustainability and Behavior Change

University of California San Diego Extension (UC San Diego Extension) has launched a new online Certificate in Sustainability and Behavior Change. This Certificate program includes unique and advanced training in conservation psychology, behavior change strategies for sustainability, community engagement, and a capstone project and is designed to help practitioners build successful programs and projects that activate awareness and behavior change.
