Documentary: Complicit

Yi Yeting is struggling with occupational leukemia and trying to obtain compensation from his employer. Wanting to help others, he begins working for a non-profit that assists workers with occupational illness and injuries.

He discovers dozens of workers in his local area who were poisoned while making smartphones. Through research in the community, he uncovers a leukemia cluster in the neighborhood surrounding Apple's main supplier Foxconn. Powerful forces are unleashed as he confronts factories, putting his own safety at risk.

Filmed over 3 years in China’s electronics zones Shenzhen and Guangzhou, COMPLICIT makes clear the criminal behavior behind the global tech market, as well as our responsibility as buyers to demand the rights of laborers to a healthy workplace.

DVD includes two versions: 89-mins & 58-mins, plus SDH captions and scene selection. With English subtitles for Mandarin Chinese.

Directed by Heather White and Lynn Zhang
