Primitive Pursuits Wilderness Instructor Interns and Apprentices combine wilderness survival skills with the most effective tools in mentorship and outdoor education. As part of a committed group that challenges, creates and leads programs together you will have many opportunities for personal growth and valuable workforce training. Interns assist senior instructors in delivering summer programs and receive training in youth mentoring and nature connection.
Summer Wilderness Field Instructors facilitate the core aim of Primitive Pursuits; bringing groups of youth into natural areas, away from facilities and without modern gear, and engaging them in a self-directed inquiry into basic, personal and group survival needs. Her/his key role in this task will be to assist and instruct youth on survival skills in the wild including but not limited to: primitive technology, fire making, shelter construction and procurement of food and water.
Our Overnight Camp Director will oversee most aspects of staffing, programming, and camper relations for our 2018 summer camp season. Duties include staff training, site and resource organization, and program management.
This role necessitates living on site at our location, which includes a cabin and access to shared kitchen space. Position will be begin in late May part time, then transition to full time in mid June.
