Do you have a desire to inspire, empower, mentor, develop and have fun? As a Teen Programs Specialist, you can do just that. We seek to inspire teens to problem solve way to save animals in the wild as well as empower them to make animal saving actions mainstream within their lives and community. Through mentoring our teens and assisting in developing new opportunities, you will support the Zoo to meet these program goals and promotes a fun and safe environment.

Camp Guides help facilitate the Houston Zoo's summer camp program. From June-August, Camp Guides lead activities across Zoo grounds for campers ages 6-14 with the purpose of igniting a passion for learning, conservation, and an understanding of the natural world. Individuals filling this role can expect to work a minimum of 4 weeks during the summer and at least one day of camp during November and December.

Are you a college student interested in learning about the role zoos play in conservation? Join the Houston Zoo for our summer internship program and discover how every individual can take part in saving animals in the wild. We encourage applications from students who may not traditionally see themselves represented in the zoo field, and we welcome students whose degrees may be outside of the traditional biology or zoology tracks. This is an 8-week learning opprotunity with a $3,400 stipend.

These may be one-on-one or small group on Zoo Grounds or stage theatrical programs using storytelling, comedy, scripted material, improvisation, songs, games and physical theater. A valid Texas driver’s license is required within state regulated timeframe if you are relocating to the area. This role works every weekend as part of a regular full-time schedule and is required to work some holidays and evenings.

This is a part time position that averages 16-29 hours per week. Hours for each week will vary and could increase during the heavier months of March – May. This position will be required to work weekends and holidays. This position’s schedule will be Saturday and Sunday plus one additional day during the week during the months of January-May and September-December and Monday-Friday during the summer months of June-August. This position requires considerable flexibility.
