The Nature Museum is seeking two Education Interns for the “Teenagers Exploring and Explaining Nature and Science” (TEENS) summer program. TEENS is a six-week program engaging Chicago public high school students in youth-driven investigations of urban ecosystems. Education Interns will assist with the development and implementation of field- and lab-based experiences for TEENS participants developing research projects in urban ecology.

This position requires an educator with natural science content knowledge and a passion for teaching. It entails implementation of science and environmental education programming for audiences varying from pre-K to adults. Some program development responsibilities especially curriculum writing and revision are also required. Experience that is transferable to school and community outreach, teacher professional development, after school programming, and museum settings is essential.

The Nature Museum is seeking an experienced educator to co-lead the “Teenagers Exploring and Explaining Nature and Science” (TEENS) summer program, a 7 week program engaging a group of 30 Chicago public high school students in teen-driven investigations of urban ecosystems. Students study nature in city parks and neighborhoods, and develop and conduct locally-focused research projects. Participants use open source apps for mobile data collection and create web-based maps and other visualizations
