The Virginia Zoo's Education Department seeks two (2) friendly and self-motivated individuals as Education instructors for the spring and summer seasons. Instructors will work up to 24 hours per week from start date through June 19, 2021, then 40 hours per week (Monday through Firday) from June 21-August 20 with a possibility of extension. Nights and weekends may be required in the spring.

Under direction of the Education Program Coordinators, Educators will present education programs to audiences of all ages and sizes on Zoo grounds. The Virginia Zoo has an opening for a full-time School Programs Coordinator. This position is responsible for the coordination and oversight of many Virginia Zoo education programs, including on-site school programs and guided tours. This position acts as liaison between the zoo and local schools and school systems. The School Programs Coordinator also plays a key role training and overseeing part-time education staff and as a member of the Summer Safari Camp team.
The Zoo Education Manager organizes and manages all aspects of the Education Department of the Virginia Zoo and plans, develops and administers educational programs for the institution. Responsibilities include working with the Zoo’s leadership team and Zoo Society Board to develop and deliver a broad range of educational programming to Zoo visitors, and the community, which supports the mission of the Zoo and the market in which it operates.
