The EC specialist facilitates these programs and substitutes in our full time nature preschool. Nature is our classroom as we scaffold our little ones' social, emotional, physical, and cognitive growth. The Dallas Zoo seeks an intern to assist with the planning and implementation of conservation engagement initiatives. This internship will primarily involve working with the Conservation Engagement team along with volunteers and key community partners, to organize, coordinate, and execute educational and relationship-building events focused on engaging people in conservation action.
This position is a lead teaching and caregiving position for the Wild Earth Preschool program, a nature preschool at the Dallas Zoo. Equipped with a strong background in early childhood development or a related field and the ability to inspire children to connect with nature through play and exploration, the teacher fosters positive relationships with children, parents, and staff to benefit whole-child growth.
Children’s Zoo Specialists are both animal care specialists and educators responsible for an animal collection consisting of domestic and exotic animals for programming, contact and exhibit. Children’s Zoo Specialists I are responsible for preparing and presenting engaging public education presentations for children and families. Specialist are also responsible for helping to provide animal care, monitoring animal health, maintaining cleanliness of animal areas, etc.
Evaluation Interns will support internal evaluation projects by assisting staff with instrument development, data collection, data management, data analysis, literature searches/reviews, and reporting. Interns will have the opportunity to work on elements of a variety of different projects, depending both on the project need and on the intern’s interest. Ability to converse fluently in Spanish is preferred.
This position is responsible for working with the Director of Education and preschool staff to provide leadership and quality management for curriculum, programming, business operations, and customer service in the Dallas Zoo Nature Preschool. This position will serve as the on-site director of a child care center to be licensed by the state of Texas.
