The Science and Data Division of the Colorado State Forest Service provides administration and oversight of science and data delivery that directly contributes to the agency’s mission of “the stewardship of Colorado’s diverse forest environments for the benefit of present and future generations”.
Under the direct supervision of the Associate Director of Science and Data, this position is responsible for the development, oversight, and administration of a Forest Monitoring and Data Analytics program for the Colorado State Forest Service. This program will include ecological data production, data management, and data analysis. The position will coordinate field data collection and monitoring protocols, and train employees in these methods.
Under the direct supervision of the Associate Director of Science and Data, this position is responsible for the oversight and administration of the Geospatial Data Management and Analysis program for the Colorado State Forest Service. They will coordinate the conversion of geospatial information, remote sensing imagery, and other science based data sources into GIS databases.
The Colorado State Forest Service is hiring a Conservation and Youth Education Specialist in with responsibility for two primary programs: Project Learning Tree and conservation education. The position will be located in Broomfield or Fort Collins, CO. The deadline to apply is April 15.
Under the direct supervision of the Forest Management Division Supervisor, this position is responsible for the oversight and administration of programs supporting forest stewardship activities on private lands in Colorado. Specifically, this position will be responsible for program administration, professional forestry functions, and science-based forest management expertise supporting the field units (districts) in providing programs to the citizens of Colorado.
This position will be the lead & serve as the representative for a variety of program areas on the districts. Grant programs this position will administer include but are not limited to: Colorado Forest Restoration, State & Private Forestry, State Fire Assistance, Community Assistance Funding on Adjacent Lands, & other State and Federal grants.
This position will provide professional science-based assistance to local landowners regarding forest health and prepare program related reports.
These positions are the lead for the Good Neighbor Authority program at the Colorado State Forest Service (CSFS). The program allows cross-boundary forest treatments & effective sharing of limited resources between federal & state agencies, to achieve landscape-scale impacts. Under the agreement, the CSFS has authority to conduct forest treatments on 11 National Forests in Colo, complementing work on state &private lands, leveraging state resources to accomplish work across land ownership boundaries.
This position is supervised by the District Forester on the Golden districts, and the primary duty of this position is to serve as a forester supporting activities associated with the Upper South Platte Project (USPP). Specifically, this position will support USPP projects involving forest management, wildfire fuels reduction, public outreach, forest health, Community Wildfire Protection Plans, and Firewise Communities.
Under the supervision of the District Forester, these positions will be the lead for one or more of the following program areas: Community Wildfire Protection Plans, Firewise, Forest agriculture, Forest management, Forest stewardship planning, Grant program management, Insect and disease, Outreach programs, Pile burning on state lands, State parks forest management, State trust lands, Urban and community forestry, and Wildfire mitigation and fuel treatment.
As a member of the CSFS Outreach Division, the University Liaison and Experiential Learning Program Manager works collaboratively with other division staff to provide outreach and education to the landowners and citizens of Colorado and supports and enhances the outreach efforts of CSFS forestry professionals throughout the state.
