The North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences Manager of the Discovery Room is responsible for planning, developing, promoting, and managing the Discovery Room, a hands-on intergenerational learning exhibit which houses hundreds of natural specimens, models, costumes, and a few live animals including an observation honeybee hive. This position is responsible for developing and delivering programs to young children, their families, and teachers. This position also supervises and supports the Museum’s Birthday Party Manager.
The North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences Manager of Elementary Education oversees, develops, and delivers natural science programs for elementary-aged students (e.g., Curiosity Class, Science Detectives, summer camps, etc.). This position recruits, trains, and supervises program staff and volunteers for the Museum’s Elementary Education and Summer Camp programs; provides budget oversight for fee-based programs; conducts and analyzes program evaluations; and sets Elementary Education and Summer Camp program goals and objectives.
Playful Inquiry explores the value of play and how play is associated with academic learning. Asking questions, playing with ideas, experimentation and exploration are a part of play and inquiry can be born of play.
