This summer internship located on the beautiful coast of Maine, prepares college students to enter the field of environmental or museum education by providing hands-on experience with interpretation, informal education, classes, and demonstrations, in a public garden setting. In particular, the intern in this position will immerse themselves in our Butterfly House, taking care of live specimens, interacting with visitors, and providing hands-on informal education to the public.

Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens in Boothbay, ME is seeking a customer-service oriented individual who has a love for nature and the outdoors. A background in youth or environmental education, horticulture, botany, agriculture or a related field is strongly desired. Will be responsible for, among other things, assisting with visiting school groups, leading natural science and garden-based lessons for children and caring for our Learning Garden. This position runs mid-April-October 31.
Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens, on 295 spectacular shorefront acres in the midcoast town of Boothbay, is one of the nation’s newest, loveliest, and most dynamic public gardens. The Education Programs Assistant will be responsible for scheduling and hosting visiting school and youth groups and leading school programming, assisting with Alfond Children’s Garden activities, and helping to create new educational programs for families and children.
