Schoolyards Teachers bring Common Ground’s outdoor education work to schools in the New Haven area, during the school day or afterschool. Schoolyards teachers design their own curriculum based on the schoolyard space, the seasons, the needs of the school, and the interests of the children. They provide content based learning about science, nature, and the environment as well as facilitate and create opportunities for adventure based play.
Common Ground Camp serves children ages 4 – 14. Our campus includes a farm, forest, and lots of opportunities for playing and learning in nature! Camp staff work together to plan activities that range from cooking and fort building to stream stomping and nature arts. We are looking for staff who have big hearts, love kids, and want to spend their summer active and outside.
This is a 5-7 hour a week position that involves very physical work, office work and education with HS students. It is a temporary, part time position that is grant-funded through June 2022. At the end of the grant period the position will be evaluated based on funding, performance and assessment of continuing need.
Common Ground is a center for environmental learning in New Haven, Connecticut. Farm meets forest meets city on Common Ground’s 20 acre campus at the base of West Rock Ridge. Seeking teachers and assistant teachers to bring forest school style learning to public school children, using city parks and school greenspaces!
