Proposed projects/duties include activities such as roving outdoor interpretation, outdoor programming, virtual education and/or interpretive programming, and staffing Visitor Centers.

USFWS Internships are 3-6 months, summer or winter and are a great way to explore your career goals. Varied experiences and training's include Biological field work, Environmental Education and Interpretation and refuge maintenance. Interns assist with bird nesting area protection , bird surveys, Pelican and Tern banding, water salinity and levels monitoring, Turtle patrol and turtle watch; Red Wolf care; a fish hatchery experience and other opportunities as they arise.

We are currently recruiting an Intern for January through May 2020 for a Refuge Education and Red Wolf Caretaker Internship. This position is multifaceted. This Intern will conduct our Kindergarten Clubs, working with other refuge volunteers in providing a monthly 1 hour class to kindergarten age student in our local schools. This intern will also be responsible for feeding and assisting with Red Wolf duties.

Teaching Practicum Interns will gain hands-on, real world experiences working with and assisting professional environmental education staff in a variety of tasks including, leading K-5th grade education programs in the classroom and outdoors, curriculum development and maintaining educational resources.
