May 22-23, 2020: WWF India, in partnership with MoEFCC, NBA, UNEP and UNDP, is conducting the first-of-its-kind digital Model Conference of Parties 2020 (MCOP-1) on May 22 and 23, as part of the International Day for Biological Diversity. The event will be formally inaugurated by the Hon'ble Minister Sh. Prakash Javadekar on May 22.

Over 100 young delegates from schools across the country will participate in the MCOP-1, which will give them an orientation and exposure to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) and the process of multicountry engagement and deliberations during a Conference of Parties (COP). The students will also set draft goals and targets for biodiversity conservation at the state and national level.

The outputs from the MCOP will be shared with the MoEFCC as one of India's contributions towards the development of a strong post 2020 global biodiversity framework.

We are inviting school students to witness this first-of-its-kind MCOP-1 to get inspired by the young delegates (9th-12th grade students) as they design the MCOP-1 New Delhi Declaration.
