Summer Science Inquiry Institute

This opportunity is for teachers of 3rd-5th grade students working in low income, urban schools in the Philadelphia Region.

Teachers are responsible for transportation daily to 5 different cultural institutions in Philadelphia, most are accessible by public transportation.

Teachers will gain a greater understanding of the 5E cycle of inquiry and work to adapt their existing lessons to align  with inquiry based learning. We model strategies for using nature as a platform for students to build skills in science and STEM.  Teachers will meet with experts at Philadelphia area centers for informal learning, explore environmental challenges and participate in lessons that can be used in their classroom.  Act48 credit is available and teachers earn a $500 stipend.
