Senator Siah Correa Hemphill introduced Senate Bill 32 (SB 32) to establish an Outdoor Learning Program at the NM Public Education Department (PED) during the 2022 New Mexico Legislative Session, January 18-February 17. The bill proposes the creation of two new positions at PED to support outdoor learning statewide, more professional development focused on outdoor education for NM’s teachers, and microgrants for the construction of outdoor classrooms on school grounds throughout the state.

What: This training is open to educators, teachers, youth, and community members interested in supporting a new Outdoor Learning Program Bill, SB 32. The bill will establish an Outdoor Learning Program at New Mexico’s Public Education Department and is being introduced by NM Senator Siah Correa Hemphill at the upcoming New Mexico Legislative Session. Join us to learn how to speak up in support of this monumental legislation for the children of our state! EENM and Wild Friends will share more about the legislative process, provide tips on ways to reach out to your legislators, and share how we each can play a role in advocacy to see outdoor learning expanded in New Mexico.
