This workshop will introduce participants to the Nonformal Environmental Education Programs: Guidelines for Excellence in Environmental Education. These guidelines comprise a set of recommendations for developing and administering high-quality, nonformal EE programs. The recommendations provide a tool that can be used to ensure a firm foundation for new programs or to trigger improvements to existing ones.

The Nonformal Guidelines are one in a series of seven guidelines developed by the North American Association for Environmental Education (NAAEE) through the National Project for Excellence in Environmental Education. Each set of guidelines was developed by a diverse team of professionals, and each has gone through a substantive review by thousands of professionals prior to its publication.

Optional Train-the-Trainer Track - If you do professional development with other educators or are looking for new ways to share best practices on nonformal EE programs, consider joining the Guidelines Trainers' Bureau! For those interested in the train-the-trainer track, a required follow-up webinar will take place on March 21 from 1:00-3:00 p.m. MST which will go over additional information (sample agendas, trainer resources) on how to train others on the Nonformal Guidelines.
