Fall 2018 Wilderness Management Distance Education Course

NRSM 405/561 ""Managing Wilderness Ecosystems" cover ecosystem characteristics and basic principles of wilderness management. Separate chapters discuss management of specific wilderness resources such as fire, wildlife, cultural and historical sites, invasive species, research and scientific policies; and, managing nonconforming uses such as grazing, mining, and motorized vehicles, equipment and mechanical transport. The course also discusses the need to forge an integrated and collaborative system for wilderness stewardship across the four wilderness management agencies.
