Citizen Science Data in the Classroom

New to integrating data collection, manipulation, and display as part your citizen science-related instructional activities? This course provides a good starting place for both formal and informal educators. The course assumes a basic familiarity with the concept of citizen science and direct experience with, or participation in, at least one citizen science project. Projects highlighted in this course include Budburst, eBird, FrogWatch, Picture Post, and CoCoRaHS.  This course is listed as “CT-1620" by the Colorado School of Mines.

This course is completely online and asynchronous (self-paced). Participants will receive course login instructions before the first day of class. Course assignments include participation in asynchronous online discussions, practice working with citizen science data, and developing a lesson plan to engage your students with citizen science project data. Estimated time to complete the course is 30-38 hours.
