Are you passionate about protecting the environment, fighting for clean water and restoring healthy and abundant aquatic ecosystems, moving to 100% renewable energy, getting more people connected to their rivers and ensuring environmental justice?
The Connecticut River Conservancy has been working since 1952 to protect and restore New England’s Great River. We are an ambitious and committed organization that has been growing and changing over the past ten years as we expand our work in all four watershed states: VT, NH, MA, and CT. Our programs impact everyone who lives in or visits the 11,000 square mile watershed. That’s a lot of different people who engage with rivers in many different ways. Our work can be technical. Our work can be fun. Our work can be contentious. Our work can be inspiring. And our work is changing as we evaluate our mission in light of diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging.
We are looking for our next River Steward to build on the work we have done to engage with our members, the general public, and decision makers around the region and nation. River Stewards are the organization’s principal advocates who are responsible for implementing our strategic priorities through community organizing, regulation, policy, and legislation. We are ambitious in our aims and persistent in our efforts. We are a highly collaborative organization that supports many other organizations and individuals in their local communities to help them make things better.
This position works in collaboration with three other River Stewards and program staff in restoration, monitoring, community and applied science and recreation as well as development and communications. River stewards participate in fundraising through grant writing and donor relations.
Tell us what experience, expertise, and passions you would bring to our team. Spanish fluency a plus. We are committed to recruiting, hiring, and sustaining a diverse workforce.
Based in Hartford, working throughout the watershed in Connecticut. Hybrid work available.
