This position provides administrative, research, and writing support to NAAEE staff on key projects, including the Global Environmental Education Partnership (GEEP), a network of countries interested in building worldwide capacity for environmental education and sharing environmental education (EE) best practices to achieve greater reach and impact.

This position reports to the Director of International Programs and to the NAAEE Executive Director, and is funded through December, 2018, with the possibility of extension.

Major Responsibilities:

Provide research and writing support to NAAEE projects and the GEEP (approximately 30 percent):

  • Identify relevant case studies from around the world (linked to the goals of the GEEP) and help produce and edit them (see studies for examples)

  • Help write and edit GEEP country profiles that highlight key country EE initiatives (see profiles for examples)

  • Write blogs, web copy, and other outreach communications for the GEEP and eePRO, and respond to requests for more information

  • Help create and edit PowerPoint presentations for meetings and other promotional pieces

  • Conduct research on key issues, as needed

Manage the EE 30 Under 30 (30U30) International Awards Program (approximately 30 percent):

  • Facilitate the recruitment and selection process for 30U30 applicants to attract a global, diverse set of applicants

  • Assist with travel logistics to the Annual Conference as well as ordering and shipping awards for the 2018 awardees

  • Manage the collection and editing process for awardee biographies on the NAAEE website

  • Serve as the point person for ongoing communications and support for the 30U30 cohort; develop new and creative methods for continued engagement with current awardees and alumni

Provide administrative support to key GEEP projects (approximately 40 percent):

  • Help track GEEP financial items to ensure accurate reporting and small grant dispersals

  • Assist with planning GEEP meetings domestically and internationally to ensure all aspects are successfully executed and well-organized

  • Assist with meeting travel logistics, including airline and hotel reservations, helping with visa processing where needed, shipping, and reimbursements

  • Assist with scheduling meetings and webinars, both in person and virtually, for the GEEP

  • Help with general administrative tasks as needed

Working Relationships:

1.   Internal: Daily contact with NAAEE staff, members, and supporters.

2.    External: Daily contact with external partners and colleagues related to all aspects of the position.

Minimum Skills and Experience Required:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in a related field (environmental education, international relations, communications, environmental studies, etc.).

Experience: At least three years of writing and/or research experience, with administrative, environmental, and international experience preferred.

Skills and abilities: Exemplary writing and communication skills with a proven ability to transform complicated information (sometimes not easily translated into English) into easily digestible, engaging content; ability to work with a diversity of cultures and backgrounds, demonstrating a commitment to cultural competency, inclusion, and respect in all interactions; ability to travel (internationally and domestically for NAAEE’s annual conference in Spokane in October) as needed; ability to problem solve and take initiative to help move projects forward; excellent organizational skills and ability to manage logistics (e.g. meetings and events) and budgets; strong interpersonal skills and a desire to work in a team-oriented culture; ability to juggle multiple projects at once.
