The Point Reyes National Seashore Association is offering a limited number of backpacking camps this summer and is seeking experienced backpacking guides to lead 7th-12th graders on 4-day trips at the Seashore.

Point Reyes National Seashore Association (PRNSA) is the primary nonprofit partner of the National Park Service at Point Reyes National Seashore. We work in partnership with the National Park Service to preserve and maintain wildlife habitats, trails, and historic sites in this beautiful and unique park. Our year-round environmental education programs help children and adults deepen their understanding of nature and inspire the next generation of park stewards.

ABOUT Point Reyes Summer Camp

Point Reyes Summer Camp (PRSC) is designed to inspire young people to explore, discover, and connect with themselves, each other, and the natural world in the unparalleled beauty of Point Reyes National Seashore. As one of the only camps located inside a national park, PRSC provides participants with a unique opportunity to connect with our public lands.

This year, PRSC will offer an all-backpacking camp program as a way to more safely provide a camp experience during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. This year, camp will consist of 4-days/ 3-night backpacking trips taking place during three weeks this summer, each separated by a two-week break in between when gear will be sanitized and quarantined to prepare for the following session. Two separate backpacking groups will meet during each of the three weeks, one session for youth entering 7th-9th grade, and one for youth entering 9th-12th grade. Group sizes will be limited to 12 campers and 2 instructors. The backpacking guide will be responsible for leading one of these groups during each week of camp.

SUMMARY of Backpacking Guide Position

Camp backpacking guides will help plan and supervise all aspects of the backpacking camp experience with emphasis on camper comfort and safety, skill development, team-building, and nature connection.
