Here is a link to downloadable poster created by the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE). It highlights four recommendations for creating "thoughtful, empathetic digital citizens who can wrestle with the important ethical questions at the intersection of technology and humanity." Is there anything missing from your experiences? Do you agree with their recommendations? What have been your experiences integrating digital citizenship into environmental education?
Thanks for bringing digital citizenship up in the E-STEM group. I have to admit, it's not been a topic that I've integrated into my EE-practice much so far; however, I do incorporate Google Apps (Docs, Sheets, Forms, Slides) into our middle school homeschool program and so, there are some underlying connotations for being a good digital citizen that come into play. For example, I explicitly state that students are expected to collaborate and share ideas respectfully and positively via a collaborative online sharing platform. As the poster suggests: "Create a tsunami of kindness."
I'm definitely curious to learn how others are utilizing digital citizenship in their programming, so thanks again for bringing this up!
